Judicial Division did commit the offence of Armed Robbery in that you armed yourselves with sticks and cutlasses, attacked and robbed Mas’ud Muhammad of his Vivo handset valued N80,000, Ahmed Rabiu of his Infinix Hot 6 handset valued N60,000, you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 244 (1) of the Sokoto State Penal code Law, 2019.” After the plea of not guilty of the Defendants were taking on the 4/11/2020, the case was thereafter adjourned to the 25/11/2020 for hearing. During the trial, the prosecution called Six (6) witnesses and tendered twelve (12) exhibits marked as Exhibits A, B, C, D, E, E1, F, F1, G, G1, H and H1 respectively. Exhibit ‘A’ is the cutlass which was alleged to have been used in the commission of the offences against the Defendants. Exhibit ‘B’ is the bond to produce exhibit form in respect of 1 white vivo mobile phone released to one Masaudu Mohammed dated 21/12/2018. Exhibit ‘C’ is the bond to produce exhibit form in respect of 1 red infinix hot 6 mobile phone released to one Ahmed Rabiu, dated 21/12/2018. Exhibit ‘D’ is 1 black techno mobile phone without cover. Exhibit ‘E’ and E1 are the Hausa and English translated versions of the 1st Defendant’s statement made at CID Office Sokoto.
