to him. The charge which the Defendant pleaded not guilty is hereby reproduced below as follows:“That you Jammare Alh. Boyi ‘M’ and Abdullahi Jodi (who is now at large) sometimes in the year 2019 at about 0130hrs Here Village of Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State within the Sokoto Judicial Division, did commit the offence of Armed Robbery in that after you jointly armed yourselves with gun, you tramped into the house of one Alh. Umaru in that you caused the death of one Salamatu Umaru his wife by shot her with a gun on her stomach which resulted to her death and violently dispossessed him the sum of N2,000,000.00 and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. R11 LFN 2004.” After the plea of not guilty of the Defendant was taken on the 9/7/2020, the case was adjourned to 22/7/2020 for commencement of hearing, but unfortunately the matter could not go on because witnesses for the prosecution were not in court and the Defendant was not produced, and so the case was adjourned to 31/8/2020 for hearing. On the 31/8/2020, the prosecution called two (2) witnesses and the matter was thereafter adjourned to 17/9/2020 for continuation of hearing, but the matter could not go on because the court did not sit until on the 6/10/2020. On the 6/10/2020, the case did not go on because the prosecution witnesses were not in court and so the matter was adjourned to 14/10/2020 for continuation of hearing. Page 2 of 21
