The second witness that testified for the prosecution is on Sat. Abubakar Maharazu. This witness told this court that he is a police officer and is attached to Unguwar Rogo Police Division as an IPO. This witness told this court that he knew the defendant in this case on the 12th day of March 2020 at about 1700hrs when a case of rape and screening of offender was reported at Unguwar Rogo police Division and the case was referred to him for investigation. This witness further told this court that the nominal complainant by name Amina Aliyu complained against the defendant that on the 12th day of March 2022 at about 1600hrs the said defendant Nasiru Yakubu called her daughter by name Firdausi Bello a 7 years old girl inside his room where he had unlawful carnal intercourse with her. This witness further told this court that at the time, the nominal complainant lodged the report the defendant was at large and it was revealed that the defendant was screened by one Mudassiru Yakubu and one Lubabatu Muhammed. This witness further told this court that the two of them were arrested by the police and were interviewed by this witness. This witness further told this court that he recorded the statement of the nominal complainant and that of the said Mudassiru Yakubu and Lubabatu Muhammed. This witness further told this 4
