Abbas Samaila Esq: Our PW5 is Detective Aliyu Umar. He is a police officer and will testify in English language. PW5 (After affirmative): My name is Inspector Aliyu Umar attached to Zonal CID, Sokoto, Zone 10. I am a public servant. I know the Defendants when their case was transferred from State CID Sokoto to Zonal CID, Sokoto on 31/7/2019, and on the 20/8/2019, I recorded the statement of Dikko Ibrahim the 2nd Defendant under word of caution in Hausa language which I read over to him. He understood, signed and I also counter signed. Then on 30/1/2020, the 2nd Defendant volunteered an additional statement which he signed and I countersigned. The 2 statements were then translated into English language. The statements were thereafter compiled in the case file. Abbas Samaila Esq: If you see the statements of the 2nd Defendant, can you identify them, and if yes how? PW5: I can identify the statements through my signature and hand wiring.
