Consequent upon the foregoing, I resolve the sole issue formulated in
favour of the prosecution and against the defendant. Accordingly, the
prosecution having proved its case against the defendant beyond
reasonable doubt in respect of the offence of rape punishable under
Section 260 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law, 2019 with which the
defendant was arraigned, I hereby find you Khalifa Sani guilty and
convict you as charged.
ALLOCUTUS
C.B. Sarkin Noma Esq: We plead for leniency on behalf of the
convict. He is a first time offender. The convict
is a young man who has learnt his lesson and is
sober and has been in detention since August
2019. We pray this court to give him an option
of fine or a lighter sentence.
