10/5/2022 H. B. Dogondaji – I appear with S. M. Ahmed for the state. S. Ovia – I appear with C. B. Sarkin Noma, E. Okam and A. A. Sokoto for the defendant. H. B. Dogondaji – The defendant is in court and speaks Hausa language. He is standing trial before this court on a charge of rape contrary to section 268 of the penal code. The matter was adjourned to today for adoption of final written address of counsel and we are ready. S. Ovia – We have filed our final written address and also received the prosecution written address. We are also ready to proceed. The defendant’s final address is dated 12th of April 2022 therein we raised one issue for determination. We have also canvassed argument to that regard this could be seen at paragraph 2 to 12 of our written address. The defendant also relies on the defence of insanity. We adopt the said written address and we urge the court to discharge and acquit the defendant. H. B. Dogondaji – Our final address is dated 9th May 2022 and filed on the same date.
