statements of the 2nd and 3rd defendants. After recording the statements of the 2nd and 3rd defendants, I took the 2nd and 3rd defendants to my superior in person of SP Ibrahim Musa Kamba. He asked me to read the statements one after the other to the hearing of the 2nd and 3rd defendants which I did. After reading the statements over, he asked the 2nd and 3rd defendants whether they were the makers of those statements and they all answered him yes. He then collected the statements and endorsed them in their presence. The 2nd defendant signed his statement by way of writing in Arabic while the 3rd defendant signed his statement by way of thumbprint. I then wrote my name as the recorder of those statements. I translated all the statements of the defendants from Hausa to English language. I also signed the words of caution of the translated versions of the defendants’ statements and also wrote my name as the translator. I was also appointed to visit the scene of the crime at Kibiyari Village in Yabo Local Government of Sokoto State. While at the scene which is the farmland of the 1st defendant, we were able to recover a cutlass, an axe, a handle of the axe and 2 stones. We also recorded statements from the witnesses at Kibiyari Village. We returned and register those exhibits with the Exhibit Keeper of State CID Sokoto. That is all I can remember. M.B.
