Because it was a midnight we started searching for where we can hide ourselves. Because it was in the night, I fired a gun shot in the air to scare culprit and with a view to protect ourselves. DW1: Yes and we were about 6 of us including members of the Police, DSS, Civil Defence and Airforce and we were all assigned to conduct stop and search at the first gate of Usman Danfodiyo University, but O/C Patrol, the officer of Airforce, a Corporal from the Police, were stopping at that time. The distance between where we were conducting the stop and search and where our patrol vehicle is positioned is not far from us as we can see it and if we shouted for help, those officers can hear us if they were not asleep. I was trained on how to use a riffle. When a gun is fired, some people can hear it even while asleep, while other may not hear it. Before we went out for the patrol, I signed the release of riffle. I signed for AK47 but I cannot remember the number of live ammunitions I have collected. I made only one (1) gunshot during the incident.
