By exhibit A and A1 which is the statement of the 1st defendant made
at CID office Sokoto, the 1st defendant stated that he and his friends
made a reprisal attack after they armed themselves with sticks against
the youth of Ketare who beat up their friend one Shehu who sustained
a dislocation on his hand as a result of the beating meted on him, it
was part of his statement that in the process of the fight, one Nuhu
Modi was killed.
The statement of the 2nd defendant which was admitted in evidence
and marked as exhibits B and B1 for Hausa and English translated
versions respectively, also corroborated the statement of the 1st
defendant.
Exhibits C and C1 which is the Hausa and English translated versions
of the 3rd defendant’s statement, also corroborated the statement of the
1st defendant on their joint reprisal attack with sticks and the death of
one Nuhu Modi.
The statement of the defendants at Tureta Police Divisional
Headquarters admitted in evidence and marked as exhibits D, D1, E,
E1, F and F1 for Hausa and English translated versions of the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd defendants respectively, also corroborated the statements of the
