PW2 (After affirmation): My name is Cpl. Habibu Ladan, Force No. 508740. I am a Public Servant working with Nigeria Police Force attached to CID Sokoto as an Investigation Police Officer. I have been an IPO for about 7 years. Some of my duties are investigation of cases. I know only the 1st Defendant and I came to know him on the 20/12/2018 when a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Causing Grievous Hurt was translated to our department from Gwiwa Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation. I was among the IPOs that investigated the case. We have DSP Hassan Hassan, Mohammmed Tanko, Insp. Rabiu Garba, Inspr. Marcus Dangana and my humble self. I recorded the statement of the 1st Defendant in Hausa language, under word of caution. After reading the word of caution to him, he understood and thereafter gave me his statement voluntarily without duress or torture. After it, I read it over to him and he understood and signed. I translated it into English language. I then took him to our in charge DSP Hassan Hassan. I read to him in his presence and the Defendant accepted the statement and then the superior endorse it, the Defendant also signed and thereafter I file it in the case file. That is all I do.
