Defendant: I am guilty Court: By virtue of section 273(1) of the ACJL of Sokoto State 2019, where a defendant pleaded guilty to a non-capital offence as in this case, the trial court before convicting the defendant is required to invite the prosecutor to state the facts upon which the charge (s) are framed against the defendant with a view to ascertain whether the defendant understand the charge (s) against him and truly intends to admit all the elements of the offence (s) with which he is charged. Consequently, the prosecution is hereby invited to briefly state the facts upon which the three counts charges were framed against the defendant with a view to ascertain whether the defendant understand the particulars of the charges and truly intends to admit all the elements of the offences with which the defendant is charged. Shehu Musa Esq: The brief facts of the case upon which the charges were framed, are that sometimes November, 2021 the defendant attended and treated one Abubakar Hassan, Umar Imrana, Musa Haidar, Abu Zar Yahaya, Mubarak Iliyasu Jega and Mustapha Sani Shinkafi victims of gunshots and issued them with 3 cause of death certificates and 3 medical reports without reporting to the police and Page 5 of 9
