told this court that the defendant is afflicted with mental problem and
that the problem started when the defendant was in primary school.
This witness further told this court that the defendant was taken to
the hospital but he could not state exactly when the defendant was
taken to the hospital. This witness stated that the defendant was
taken to Kware Psychiatric hospital in the year 2011 and that he was
taken there twice in 2014. This witness further stated that the
hospital at Kware issued them with a medical report. This witness
further told this court that when he heard that the defendant was in
detention at Sokoto correctional centre he got a medical report and
after obtaining the said medical report he wrote a letter o the office of
the Hon. A. G and commissioner for justice, Sokoto. The learned
defence counsel Mrs. Ovia at this juncture sought to tender both the
said letter written to the Hon. Attorney General and the said report
obtained from Kware in evidence, the learned prosecuting counsel
Mrs. H. B. Dogondaji in her response did not opposed the admissibility
of the said letter to the Hon. A. G in evidence but opposed the
admissibility of the said medical report obtained from Kware in respect
of the defendant and reserved her reasons for doing so till final
