an IPO. This witness identified the defendant in this case and told this Court that he know him in the year 2019. This witness further told this Court that on the 29th of Sept. 2019 when he was in his office, the Homicide Section of the C.I.D. office Sokoto, a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Culpable Homicide was referred to the Homicide Section for investigation from Dange Shuni Police Division. This witness further told this Court that the case was referred to his team to investigate and as a member of the team; he was assigned to record the statement of the defendant in this case. This witness further fold this Court that before recording the statement of the defendant he asked the defendant to call his counsel or any other person to witness the recording of the statement and the defendant told him that he doesn’t have a counsel and that he don’t want any person to be present during the recording of the statement. This witness further told this Court that he first of all read the words of caution to the defendant in Hausa Language and the defendant said he understood the words of caution and signed same. This witness further stated that he also counter signed as the recorder. This witness further told this Court that the defendant then narrated to him his story in Hausa Language and he recorded same in Hausa Language. After that, witness told this Court that the defendant signed the statement and this witness also counter signed. This witness further stated that he then took the defendant and his statement to his superior officer one Musa Ibrahim Kamba, who directed that the statement be read to the hearing of defendant in Hausa Language. The statement was then read to the defendant by this witness in the presence of the said SPO, and the SPO asked the defendant whether it 3
