was his statement and the defendant confirmed that it was his statement.
This witness further stated that the SPO then endorsed the statement with
red ink and he signed the endorsement and this witness also signed the
endorsement. This witness further stated that he then translated the Hausa
version of the statement to English Language.
The said statement in Hausa Language and the English Version of same
was tendered in evidence through this witness by the Learned Prosecuting
Counsel Mr. Umar Aliyu, the Defence Counsel Mrs. S. Ovie objected to the
admissibility of the said statement and told this Court that she would furnish
her reasons at the address stage. The said statement of the defendant in
Hausa Language and the English translated version of same were admitted in
evidence by this Court as exhibits A and A1 respectively.
Under cross-examination this witness stated that the role he played in
this case was that he recorded the statement of the defendant and that of the
complainant in this case. He also told this court that he did not visit the
Hospital where the deceased died and that he did not obtain a medical report
pertaining to the death of the deceased. This witness further told this Court
that they did not recover any exhibit in this case. This witness further stated
that the date on the endorsement is 20th Sept. 2019.
The second witness that testified for the prosecution in this case is one
Malam Dogo. This witness told this Court that he lives at Bela Village of
Dange Shuni LGA of Sokoto State. He identified the defendant and further told
this Court that about 2years ago on a Wednesday in the night when he was in
his house, he heard commotion outside and when he came out, he met his
brother Abubakar, who is now deceased lying down and he saw some signs
